Finally, with a bit of delay, my new book, published in Italy by Officina Libraria, was released today 21th September and is available online on Amazon and others and in of course in bookstores.
Who has never talked to his/her dog, cat, hamster, goldfish...? Someone, a careful observer of the dynamics between animals, also happens to make them talk to each other, to imagine stories, exchanges of jokes, thoughts. I have tried to represent with a few simple lines Pina's (known as Pinotta) moods and expressions, an enthusiastic and talkative dog, and the lapidary cat Gianni. The result is a book that brings a smile to every page, to readers of all ages. A year of daily exchanges between Gianni and Pinotta, with parties and anniversaries, punctuated by their loves... and disagreements. It is at the same time the story of a friendship and a mini treatise on ethology! I hope this collection of short episodes can refresh your hot summer days :)

...And the Bologna Children's Book Fair has come and gone this year too, leaving us exhausted, but with our eyes full of images, colors, words and people. I don't yet have the strength to dwell on the topic, so I hope you will be satisfied with some souvenir photos that I took at the Fair. On Tuesday 9th April, as I announced, I did my little LIVE SESSION “Waiting for…GIANNI & PINOTTA” (my book which will be published in May by Officina Libraria.) at the PUGLIA PAROLE A SISTEMA stand in the fair and it was very nice…
…When you have to draw such cute characters, how can you not be happy? I'll leave you some photos of the live session here too: Since it's been a while since I wrote something, it seems appropriate to do an update before Easter :)
Life here goes on as usual and, between one thing and another, we are back at the time of year long awaited by all illustrators...The Bologna Children's Book Fair! Sadly this year I will only be there for one day, a tour de force that will begin early in the morning and end late in the evening when I return home... but I'll make do with it :) For those who will be there... you will find me at the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese stand (Hall 26 Stand A86) on Tuesday 9th April from 2.00pm to 3.00pm for a live session. The theme of my live session, in honor of my new book coming out on May 17th with Officina Libraria, will be "A year with Gianni and Pinotta". For those who won't be there... I'll write something when I get back to tell you about it :) Happy New Year to everyone :) I hope you had a nice holiday. I dedicated myself to my loved ones (furry and not so furry), to the kitchen and to the house. The news is that the littlest girl's book is now also available in Italian! Here: https://www.amazon.it/bambina-che-esplor%C3%B2-atomo/dp/B0CRH8HSPF And for those who need it in English here are the links: https://thelittlestgirl.com/ https://www.amazon.it/littlest-girl-goes-inside-atom/dp/B0C9S7QZD1 Or you can support the project by purchasing just the illustrated recipe to make pizza in the littlest girl style here: https://thelittlestgirl.com/products/the-littlest-girls-pizza-recipe And... Let's hope it's a roaring start to the new year for everyone! Christmas is coming and…as the song says…It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
For the occasion I created a set of Christmas cards...a small gift for some friends and customers. One card for each day of Advent. I’m posting some here, but to see them all follow my stories on Instagram and Facebook. I am really happy to announce that after a summer of planning and exactly 2 months of promoting the crowdfunding campaign, my DOGS FROM THE WORLD project has been financed.
What I want to create is an EBOOK full of PORTRAITS OF YOU AND YOUR DOGS from all over the world. A collection with dogs, noses, eyes, paws, ears, people, bellies, hands, colors and so on. In last years, especially in 2020, to bring some happiness, during the pandemic, I started this series of illustrations called "DOGS FROM THE WORLD”- A lovely collection of our best friends portraits. I thought about how much happiness gives me spending time with my dog Pina, looking after her, playing with her, learning to understand her and teaching her to understand me. I thought about how much people are would do for their dogs. So I decided to make a series of portraits in a graphic and colorful style, to reproduce a little of that HAPPINESS that our friends give us every day. To know the stories of dogs and people around the world is something I'm passionate about, to hear about places I don't know or would like to know better. With this collection I want to CELEBRATE DOGS and the unique relationship that we could create with them. To tell this also to all those who are not yet lucky enough to have a dog in their lives and to raise awareness those who do not know or do not believe in this. And... it would be an honor to be "that illustrator" who draws dogs. :) If you are interested in the project or in book a personalized portrait, click on the buttons above, take a look at the other portraits on my Instagram page or contact me privately. Probably every day I use GIFs in my Whatsapp messages, but I have rarely thought about creating a collection of GIFs. This time, since I created the ebook LE CINQUE SFUMATURE DEL BUFFO, I've taken the opportunity!
You can check out, download and share with your friends this GIFs collection from my profile on GIPHY: https://giphy.com/channel/francescacosanti/le-cinque-sfumature-del-buffo I hope you will like them! Last night, Saturday 4 November, the e-book LE CINQUE SFUMATURE DEL BUFFO I created in honor of the 5 Operas Buffa of the 2023 Festival della Valle D'Itria was presented in the Auditorium of the Fondazione Paolo Grassi. The Festival is held in my city, Martina Franca in Puglia - Italy, for 50 years and is an internationally renowned Opera Festival.
The ebook combines music and illustration, in fact for each GIFs a musical track was recorded during the Festival. The ebook can currently be downloaded from the following link: https://tr.ee/TsNY-sT0Pz and will soon also be available on the Apple Book Store and Google Play Books. After my presentation, the audience attended the final concert of the students of the Accademia del Belcanto Rodolfo Celletti 2023 and, surprisingly, I worked on a digital live-painting, to create a background for the singers on stage. Here are some photos to let you take part of the show. In the past few months I have been many things to do and consequently I have many things to tell.
I usually talk a lot and so there shouldn't be any big problems. I just need to learn how to transfer all those words into my fingers for once, hitting the keys on my keyboard and...write. First of all, after a successful conversation with Edward Burns at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair I came to know about the ITSME Mentorship Program. After 3 months of this program, during which I interfaced with the wonderful Amy Milligan of Illo Agency I am proud to announce that ILLO AGENCY has decided to represent me as an artist. If you have a couple of minutes please take a look on my profile. Since this is a new adventure for me, it seems right to finally try to write sometimes a blog. Please be patient with my English, I will probably make some mistakes, but I hope it will get better. |
